Why Neocities?

I greatly prefer the visual style, themes, and creative expression of the early internet. Over the last several decades, the internet transformed from "the internet" to a handful of websites, each sharing screenshots of the others. Neocities is not the only web host, nor does it have the most features, but the community, nostalgia, and simplicity sets it apart. As a web host it also offers more customization than a traditional blogspot or wordpress site. While I do understand the principles and techniques of more modern web design, I prefer the simplicity.
